I am the same size/weight and used to encounter the same problems. If you don't like going to tall (like me) try epoxy construction for more float or a board that offers more volume in the nose and rails. My 5'6 Pod works great on overhead because of this. My 6'0 fcd epoxy works better than my 6'1 rusty because it's epoxy, not poly. Catch my drift? If you don't mind going up an inch or two then thats always an option as well - but I wouldn't go over 6'3 if you're intermediate or above.
