I have been surfing for about 2.5 to 3 years and i have a 7' stewart funboard. I feel comfortable on it and dont feel there is much else i can do with it. what is a good size for me to step up to?

It depends on how you surf now and how you want to progress over the next few years. If you're ready for high performance riding, then go for a shortboard. Otherwise, transition to an egg or a hybrid, which is a less aggressive switch. The dims of your board would actually depend on your height & weight.
